Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to website owners.

This Cookie Policy explains how Braintelligence.ai ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website https://braintelligence.ai.

This policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Technologies We Currently Use

Local Storage (Not Cookies)

Currently, we use browser local storage (not cookies) for one specific purpose:

Dark Mode Preference

Purpose: Remember your light/dark theme preference

Storage Type: Browser localStorage

Data Stored: "light" or "dark" (just one word)

Duration: Until you clear browser data

Third Parties: None - stays on your device only

Legal Basis: Strictly necessary for functionality

Important: Local storage is NOT a cookie, but under GDPR and similar privacy laws, it's treated similarly because it stores data in your browser.

Why This Is "Strictly Necessary"

Under GDPR Article 6(1)(f), we can use browser storage for "strictly necessary" purposes without explicit consent. We believe dark mode preference qualifies because:

  • Essential for Accessibility: Many users rely on dark mode to reduce eye strain, accommodate visual impairments, or simply prefer it
  • User-Requested: The storage only happens when YOU actively click the theme toggle button
  • No Tracking: We don't use this data to track you, profile you, or share it with anyone
  • No Alternative: Without storing this preference, your theme choice would reset on every page visit, creating a poor user experience

If you disagree with this interpretation, you can disable local storage in your browser settings (see below).

Cookies We May Use in the Future

We plan to implement additional cookies and tracking technologies in the future, with your explicit consent first. These may include:

Analytics Cookies (Planned)

Google Analytics 4

Purpose: Understand how visitors use our website

Data Collected: Page views, session duration, device type, approximate location (city-level), referring sites

Third Party: Google LLC

Duration: Up to 26 months

Your Control: Opt-in required; can opt-out anytime

Privacy Settings: IP anonymization enabled, advertising features disabled

Marketing Cookies (Potential Future Use)

If we implement marketing campaigns, we may use cookies for:

  • Newsletter signup forms
  • Lead generation tracking
  • Conversion tracking (e.g., form submissions, call clicks)
  • Retargeting campaigns (showing ads to people who visited our site)

These will require your explicit consent before activation.

Cookie Categories Explained

When we do implement cookies, they will fall into these categories:

1. Strictly Necessary Cookies ✓ (No Consent Needed)

Essential for website operation. Examples:

  • Theme preferences (current local storage)
  • Security cookies (session management)
  • Load balancing cookies
  • Authentication cookies (when user accounts exist)

2. Functional Cookies ⚠️ (Consent May Be Required)

Enhance functionality but not essential. Examples:

  • Language preferences
  • Video player settings
  • Chat widget preferences

3. Analytics Cookies ⚠️ (Consent Required)

Help us understand website usage. Examples:

  • Google Analytics
  • Heatmaps (Hotjar, etc.)
  • A/B testing tools

4. Marketing Cookies ⚠️ (Consent Required)

Used for advertising and remarketing. Examples:

  • Conversion tracking pixels
  • Retargeting cookies (Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads)
  • Social media tracking

Third-Party Cookies

Currently, the only third-party service we use that may set cookies is Google Fonts for typography. Google Fonts does not set tracking cookies, but may collect minimal technical data. See Google Fonts Privacy FAQ.

When we add services like HubSpot (meeting scheduling) or Google Analytics, those third parties may also set cookies. We will:

  • Obtain your consent before enabling these services
  • Update this policy to list all third parties
  • Provide links to their privacy policies
  • Allow you to opt-out or withdraw consent

Future Consent Management

When we implement analytics or marketing cookies, we will add a cookie consent banner allowing you to:

  • Accept all cookies
  • Reject non-essential cookies
  • Customize cookie preferences by category
  • Change your preferences at any time

Do Not Track (DNT) Signals

Do Not Track (DNT) is a privacy preference you can set in your browser. When enabled, it sends a signal to websites requesting they don't track you.

Our Position: We respect DNT signals. Currently, since we don't have analytics or tracking, DNT doesn't affect anything. When we do implement analytics, we will:

  • Honor DNT signals by default (no tracking if DNT is enabled)
  • NOT override your DNT preference
  • Treat DNT as equivalent to rejecting analytics cookies

Updates to This Policy

We will update this Cookie Policy whenever we:

  • Implement new cookies or tracking technologies
  • Add new third-party services
  • Change how we use browser storage
  • Update compliance with new privacy laws

Material changes will be communicated via:

  • Updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • Prominent notice on our website
  • Email to active clients and subscribers
  • New consent request (if required by law)

We recommend reviewing this policy periodically to stay informed.
